Situation

An established home care provider serving a defined local area needed to be found by two audiences: families looking for care, and carers looking for work. Both search locally, and both were being pulled away by national players. Care directories, job boards and larger providers compete for the same local searches as any independent provider. A family searching for domiciliary care or live-in carers is just as likely to land on a national listing as on the provider that actually covers their street. The provider started with a reasonable base. It already ranked first for a third of its target searches. But the terms that bring in new care packages were further down: “domiciliary care” sat at position 23, on page three, and “live in carers” sat at position 20.

Response

The programme focused on owning every search that matters inside the provider’s area, rather than chasing national volume a local provider can’t serve. Commercial care searches and carer recruitment searches were treated as two parallel targets, because the business can’t grow without both new clients and new carers.

Results

The provider now ranks first for 21 of its 32 target searches, up from 11, and is the most visible website for home care searches in its area. That puts it ahead of every local competitor and the national sites that used to take its traffic.

  • Keywords at position one up 91%, from 11 to 21
  • 30 of 32 target searches now in the top five
  • “Domiciliary care” up from position 23 to 3, and “live in carers” up from 20 to 5
  • Position one locally for “home care”, “home care near me” and “care agency near me”
  • Local search visibility up 51%, and share of voice up from 9.4% to 15.4%
  • 2.3x the local visibility of a national jobs board, 2.4x that of a national care directory, and 7.5x that of the nearest local care competitor
  • Position one or two for carer recruitment searches, including “home care jobs” and “live in care jobs”
  • 221 calls and contact form enquiries from 2,256 engaged organic sessions, so nearly one in ten engaged visitors got in touch
